![]() Thao Le Khac was born in Saigon, Viet Nam. Her family moved to America when she was nine years old. She spent her childhood in Saigon, Ohio, and Southern California. Today Thao and her husband live in the enchanted redwoods of Humboldt County, California. She received her BA in studio art in 1994 and her art teaching credential in 1999 at Humboldt State University. Thao’s 19 years of artwork are a traveler’s spiritual journey through time and cultures. Her early works are glimpses of her Vietnamese ancestors’ way of life and their healing paths. She then concentrated on the culture of Northern California, where she lives. Melding the images of a rural Vietnamese way of life with those of her Californian organic farming community, she painted the voices of these rural peoples with fresh, vibrant colors of joy. Today Thao expresses her newfound freedom with watercolors through deliberate brushstrokes and spontaneous compositions of exquisite florals. Thao continues to paint the voices of her family in Viet Nam and America, evoking an essence of peace on her brilliant canvases and murals.
